To many (maybe most) scientists and engineers the patent system can be a daunting thing. Unlike the laws of nature it is a man-made, man-operated thing. It is complex both substantively and procedurally. And if non-lawyer scientists and engineers do not know the basics of the system they are likely to miss out on its potential or fall victims to others who do. In this lecture Sir Robin will aim to give the audience a basic understanding of how it all works without descending into complex legal detail. The intention is help members of the audience know when to ask a patent expert and how to relate to them. The seminar would be hosted by the Honourable Andrew Liao Cheung-sing, GBS, SC, JP, Council Chairman.
